History
The Center was established in February 1992
on the initiative of the Romanian Society « Speranta », which is
a non-governmental organization of the parents with mentally handicapped children,
in collaboration with the similar F.U.B. organization from Sweden. The Center
is unique in Romania by its structure and by the variety of services provided.
We are a private-public partnership between a non-governmental organization
– the Rehabilitation Foundation « Speranta » and the Ministry
of Education and Research from Romania. We provide a service of rehabilitation
and recovery for the children with special needs.
Goals and objectives
The key word is INCLUSION.

The goal of our work is enhancing the quality
of life of the children with special needs and their families.

The team
It consists of 30 specialists : psychologists,
speech therapists, ergotherapists, kinetotherapists, support teachers, parental
counselor, paediatrician neuropsychiatrist, recuperatory physiotherapist, social
assistant, nurses.
Target groups
300 groups with disabilities between 0-18
years old and their families - children with mental handicap, epilepsy, cerebral
palsy, Langdon Down syndrome, autistic syndrome and Asperger syndrome, instrumental
impairments, behaviour disorders Services offered
In the Center
a) Outpatient services Outpatient services fall
into 3 categories : psychopedagogical, medical and social, both for the children
and their families
- psychological, pedagogical, medical and social evaluation
- intervention, stimulation and rehabilitation programs, for individuals and
groups
- information, counseling and support programs for the parents
- individual family counseling (parental and for couples)
- Parents’ Club - Club for Health Education - Individual therapeutic procedures
(lasting about 25 min, 1-2 children) :
- speech therapy, ergotherapy, curriculum learning, kinetotherapy, cognitive-behavioural
therapy, relaxation and polisensory stimulation, individual psychotherapy,
- group therapeutic procedures (lasting about 25 min, 1-3 children): art therapy
club, music therapy, marionettes club, computer club, group therapeutic procedures
(lasting 45 min, 2-6 children): cognitive-behavioural therapy club, fairy tales
club, psychodrama club, play therapy club, psychomotor club, health education
club, preteenagers and teenagers club, club for the children with ADHD syndrome
